About
Anthony Koenen has always been a keen gardener, landscaper, earthmover and builder.
Remodelling gardens on lifestyle blocks meant buying in mulch, purchased from landscape supply yards at retail prices.
Most yards had either processed bark nuggets or granulated mulch. Although decorative products, the cost was prohibitive in large quantities. These products provide no weed suppression or soil additive.
Arborists could supply green mulch, straight off the tree, but the quality was never consistent.
Taking a few truckloads of green arborist mulch and mixing it before adding it to the garden seemed to provide the solution.
The next issue was the aging process.
Stockpiling for a minimum of one month allowed the mulch to 'cook'. The mulch generates heat, which causes decomposition, breaking down the organic matter. If left for long enough, the mulch would break down further into compost.
Mulch King has a yard at Whenuapai, where arborists can offload at an all-weather site.
Typically, our stockpile will contain approximately 1000 cubic metres of mulch, beautiful, aged, brown mulch.
Pick-ups are not generally available.
